Kings View Blue Sky has an Active September in Fresno
Kings View Blue Sky Wellness Center – along with 11 volunteers from Cornerstone Church and Restoration Outreach Church – hosted a mobile shower event on Saturday, September 10th. The churches provided the mobile shower unit and food-and-fixings for the 45 individuals who utilized the opportunity to shower and have a meal. “This was an amazing event,” said Jessica Underwood, M.S., Program Manager for the Wellness Center, “an absolute blessing to provide this service to our Blue Sky members.” Blue Sky staff completed 12 intakes at the event to add new members to the community at the Wellness Center.
Additionally, Central Valley Veterans Stand Down celebrated its 32nd annual event September 14th-15th this year in Fresno, CA. Kings View Blue Sky staff Debbie Johnson and Tina Jenkins attended the event, hosting a booth to talk about their program and the services they provide, and establishing connections with the involved government agencies and other organizations they plan to work with in the future. The Stand Down is a collaboration of numerous government agencies at all levels and including the Court system, and non-profit organizations aimed at assisting all veterans and active service members and their families. This includes homeless assistance, drug and alcohol recovery, medical and dental services, and more. There are also various forms of counseling available including employment, home purchase, and small business startup with the goal of stimulating the local economy and in turn providing even more help for other veterans.
